We are really looking forward to our 2020-21 Wisdom Wednesday/Weekends school year. We ALL belong here to pray, grow, and serve!

Although this year is incredibly unique due to the challenges in our world, our priority remains the same. We are here to help families bring their children closer to God. God is here with us every step of the way and celebrating Him and learning about His love for us together as a community is what we intend to do. We have adjusted our programs to honor social distancing guidelines and keep all our young Catholics and faith filled volunteers as safe as they can be.  Facemasks will be required at all classes until further notice.   We have also made changes based on feedback we received from parents, teachers, and students. We understand that it is not possible to create a schedule that is 100% convenient for all. This does not stop us from trying. We are very blessed to serve both the St. Andrew and St. Patrick communities and have created options for families to choose which option works best for them.  Feedback remains important, so please feel free to share when you have some!

K-2nd graders registered for St. Patrick English class will meet three Sundays a month from 10:15 until 11:30AM in Saint Anthony Hall below St. Patrick Church.  Students will not join their parents near the end of Mass like previous years. Parents will reunite with their children after mass in front of the church. Kindergartners and first graders will be together with their teachers. Second graders will be in their own class actively learning about First Reconciliation and First Communion. (see requirements for these special sacraments below) These classes will all take place in Saint Anthony Hall not in the conference room like previous years.

K-2nd graders registered for St. Patrick Spanish class will meet three Sundays a month from 12:30 until 1:30PM in Saint Anthony Hall below St. Patrick Church.

K-8th graders registered for St. Andrew’s English program will have class two Wednesdays a month from 5:00-6:30 in Saint Andrew Church.  We will begin with our prayer service and then have our classes.

K-8th graders registered for St. Andrew’s Spanish Program will have class on selected Sunday mornings at St. Andrew School.  Sister Monica will provide more details and information.  She can be reached at 262-728-5922 or at [email protected]

3rd-8th graders registered at Saint Patrick will have class two Wednesdays a month from 5:00-6:30 in Saint Patrick Church. We will no longer be using the St. Patrick School building since Elkhorn School District bought it.  We will begin with our prayer service and then have our classes.

9th-12th graders registered at Saint Andrew will have class two Sundays a month from 6:00-7:30 at Saint Andrews Church. We will begin with a regular weekend Mass and will teach the lessons afterwards.

9th-12th graders registered at Saint Patrick will have class two Wednesdays a month from 7:00-8:30 at St. Patrick Church. We will begin with a Mass and then have our class.

**if a St. Andrew student needs to miss class on Sunday, he or she is expected to come to St. Patrick on Wednesday and if a St. Patrick student needs to miss on Wednesday, he or she is expected to come to St. Andrew on Sunday.  The lessons will be the same at both parishes.

Family Class at Saint Patrick will meet twice a month on Sunday mornings at St. Patrick Trinity Center.  This class is led by other families with other families.  This option is great for those wanting to learn and inspire others together with their family.

We will continue using the approved Pflaum Gospel Weeklies for many of the grade levels.  These lessons relate to the Gospel and other readings for that specific weekend.  There will also be an online version of these lessons available.   I have included a link to the website and what you will see here: . We will also be focusing on the Fruits of the Holy Spirit with our Wednesday 5:00-6:30PM classes and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit during our high school/Confirmation preparation classes. Parents concerned about their children being here with other children should contact Ray Henderson at [email protected] or 262-723-5565.

It is especially important that all who attend our classes are registered.

Children in grades K-12th are all welcome and encouraged to join us for our Wisdom Wednesday/Weekend faith formation classes.   Children celebrating Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Communion and/or Confirmation, please read the following very carefully. These sacraments are wonderful gifts given to us to bring us closer to Christ!  It is especially important to learn about the sacrament and understand them prior to experiencing them.

Those school aged children who are preparing to be baptized must be enrolled in our Wisdom Wednesday/Weekend faith formation classes.  Once the child has regularly attended the required classes, the Baptism celebration will be scheduled at a time near the end of his or her first year of classes.

Parents will also have a required class if they have not previously celebrated Baptism with one of his or her older children within the required timeline.

First Reconciliation and First Communion

Students in 2nd grade and beyond are eligible to celebrate First Reconciliation and First Communion if the requirements have been met.  Students must have attended classes in a Catholic faith formation program for two school years prior to celebrating First Communion.   First Reconciliation may be celebrated at the end of the first year of preparation depending on everyone’s readiness.

There is a two-year requirement for those teenagers preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation.  Students may enroll for our year one preparation when they are sophomores or juniors in high school.  Confirmation is celebrated at the end of the second year of preparation either as a junior or a senior.  Attendance & an overnight Confirmation retreat during year two is required. It is never too late to celebrate Confirmation or any other sacraments.

Sacramental Preparation
It is never too late to receive the special sacraments available in the Catholic Church.  Students who are preparing for First Reconciliation, First Communion or Confirmation, must be enrolled in a Faith Formation program for at least two years.  For more information, please contact us.
